I CAN Be A Firefighter!

Over two dozen South LA youth now know what it takes to become heroes of our community. SoLa I CAN! kids were FIRED up as they experienced an interactive “Firefighter For The Day” at local Station 57. The Fire Captain and firefighters welcome our SoLa kids ages 5-17 in their fire house and provide the full treatment of what it’s like to be a true firefighter.

Our young wanna be firefighters are able to tour the station, sit in the massive fire trucks, watch firefighters quickly suit up, and ask many, many questions!

They learn about the equipment the firefighters use, their training and how they fight fires.

A number of the kids who participate plan to join the South LA young cadets program for youth ages 14 and up.

"I learned firefighters do so much more than just put out fires. I hope to be a fire fighter one day."

William, 8
